Meet Mary

About Mary – Bio

Mary Colak has a unique ability to scan an organization’s work processes and immediately identify areas for improvement. For over 20 years, she has been helping executives and leaders to eliminate waste and maximize flow of processes that contribute to improved customer value. This includes reviewing and recommending improvements to processes and workflow of specific tasks and jobs, assessing and recommending office layouts for improved productivity, and implementing methods for the organization and management of records and information resources that enable staff to be more efficient. She also continues to act as coach and mentor to individuals within organizations to help them manage their workloads.

Mary has advanced experience in administration and excels at diagnosing issues and assessing corporate needs. She is able to develop impactful action and implementation plans to help organizations become highly productive. Her clients have included both private and public sector organizations in Canada such as provincial government ministries and agencies, educational institutions, health care facilities, local government municipalities, and others.

In addition to her very busy work schedule, she has also served as a National Board Director of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants, President of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of British Columbia, and Trustee on the Board of the Greater Victoria Public Library. She also speaks regularly to clients and at conferences on topics relating to management of records programs, time and productivity, and email.

Mary holds a Master of Arts degree in Professional Communication as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in psychology and minor in English. She also has an Associate of Arts diploma in public administration and was awarded top honours for graduating with the highest GPA in her class. For her Certified Management Consultant designation, she made the honour roll list for the highest final exam mark in British Columbia, placing fourth nationally. In addition, she holds a Master Certificate in Lean Six Sigma from Villanova University.
